SparkSheet Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These terms apply when you download or use the SparkSheet app. Please read them, especially sections 3 to 6, because they explain what SparkSheet does not promise, limit our responsibility, and set out the consumer rights you always keep. By using SparkSheet you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. Who we are
SparkSheet is provided by Carwyn Hunt ("we", "us", "our"). Contact: support@sparksheet.app
2. What SparkSheet does
- SparkSheet reads a part number from a product label (with your camera or by typing) and tries to open the manufacturer's own published datasheet for that part, or the manufacturer's product page.
- For some distributor order codes it shows a plain link to that distributor's product page.
- We do not write, edit, check, host or own datasheets. Every datasheet is shown "as is", exactly as the manufacturer published it, on the manufacturer's website.
- SparkSheet is free. It is paid for by advertising (see section 8).
3. Always check the official datasheet yourself
SparkSheet is a convenience tool to help you find documents faster. It is not a source of technical, safety or electrical advice.
- Label reading and look-ups are automatic and can be wrong. A character can be misread, a manufacturer can change, move or withdraw a document, or a link can point to a similar but different part, an older revision or a whole product range.
- Before any installation, wiring, repair, purchase or safety decision, check that the datasheet's part number, ratings and revision match the part in front of you, using the manufacturer's official source.
- Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and the wiring rules, standards and laws where you work (for example AS/NZS 3000 in Australia and New Zealand, or BS 7671 in the UK).
- Electrical work must only be done by a suitably qualified and licensed electrician, with proper isolation and testing. SparkSheet does not replace their judgement.
4. No promises beyond what the law requires
- SparkSheet, every look-up result and every link are provided "as is" and "as available".
- To the extent the law allows, we make no promise or warranty (express or implied) that the app, any result or any linked document is accurate, complete, current, the right one for your part, fit for a particular purpose, always available or error-free.
- Datasheets, product pages and other linked documents belong to, and are the responsibility of, the companies that publish them. They are covered by those companies' own terms.
- This section does not take away any rights you have by law that cannot be excluded (see section 6).
5. Limits on our liability
Some rights can't be taken away. Consumer laws in many countries, including the Australian Consumer Law and the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, give you rights and remedies that cannot be excluded, such as consumer guarantees. Nothing in these terms removes those rights. Section 6 explains them.
Subject to that: to the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for any loss or damage arising from SparkSheet. This applies however the loss or damage arises, including in contract, in negligence or under any law. It covers:
- using or relying on SparkSheet, any look-up result, or any linked document or website;
- not being able to use SparkSheet.
This includes, for example:
- damage to equipment or property;
- failed or faulty installations;
- lost profits, revenue, business or data;
- business interruption;
- any indirect or consequential loss.
What we never exclude: nothing in these terms excludes or limits:
- our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence; or
- any other liability or right that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
6. Your consumer rights
- Australia: our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees or any other right you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where the law allows us to limit our liability for failing to meet a guarantee, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
- New Zealand: if you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. If you use SparkSheet for business purposes, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply, to the extent the law allows.
- United Kingdom: if you are a consumer, you have legal rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and nothing in these terms affects them.
- Ireland and the rest of the EU: if you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
- Everywhere else: you may have similar rights that cannot be excluded. These terms do not override them.
7. Brands and trademarks
- Manufacturer, product and distributor names, logos and part numbers shown in SparkSheet belong to their owners. We use them only to identify the parts and documents you look up.
- SparkSheet is independent. Unless we clearly say otherwise, we are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by any manufacturer or distributor, and showing their name or document is not an endorsement by them or by us.
- If you own a brand or document and have a concern, please contact us at support@sparksheet.app and we will respond promptly.
- The SparkSheet app, name and design are ours (or licensed to us). You may use the app for your own work, but you may not copy, sell or redistribute it.
8. Advertising and sponsored content
- SparkSheet shows advertising to stay free. This includes banner ads from Google AdMob and, in some regions, banners from sponsors such as electrical wholesalers, tool brands or manufacturers.
- Every sponsor placement is clearly labelled "Sponsored".
- Sponsors never change which datasheet is shown, or the order of results. Sponsor content is chosen only after the look-up result.
- Ads and sponsor offers are the advertiser's responsibility. Websites you open from an ad, a sponsor banner, a manufacturer link or a distributor link are run by others under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, products or prices.
- If you see an ad that is inappropriate or misleading, please tell us at support@sparksheet.app.
9. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- attempt to break, overload, probe, scrape, copy or reverse-engineer SparkSheet or its servers (except where the law allows you to);
- send false confirmations ("this is the right datasheet") or deliberately misleading reports;
- send photos or text that show people, anyone's personal information, client details, or anything unlawful, offensive or that you have no right to share;
- use SparkSheet in a way that breaks any law or anyone else's rights.
We may block abusive use, ignore or delete anything submitted, and switch off features to protect the service and its users.
10. What you send us
If you choose to send a photo, report, confirmation or suggestion, you confirm you have the right to send it, and you let us use it (free of charge) to run, fix and improve SparkSheet. How we handle it, and when it is deleted, is explained in our Privacy Policy.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy (https://www.sparksheet.app/privacy) explains what data SparkSheet handles. In short: no accounts, no names or emails, and anything you send is anonymous and deleted automatically on a fixed schedule.
12. App stores
- If you downloaded SparkSheet from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms add to it; if the two conflict, Apple's agreement applies as between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for SparkSheet or its support.
- If you downloaded SparkSheet from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your use of Google Play. Google is not responsible for SparkSheet or its support.
- SparkSheet is not offered in mainland China.
13. Changes, suspension and ending
- We may change, suspend or stop SparkSheet, or any feature, at any time. As the app is free, we do not owe you compensation for this, except where the law requires it.
- We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and tell you in the app about significant changes before they take effect. If you keep using SparkSheet after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, please stop using the app.
- You can stop using SparkSheet at any time by deleting it.
- We may stop you using SparkSheet if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
- Sections 4, 5, 6, 7 and 14 continue to apply after you stop using SparkSheet.
14. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear disputes.
- If you are a consumer living in another country, this does not take away the protection of that country's mandatory laws, or your right to bring a claim in the courts where you live. For example, a consumer in Australia keeps the protection of the Australian Consumer Law and can use Australian courts and tribunals. A consumer in Scotland or Northern Ireland can use the courts there.
- Please contact us first at support@sparksheet.app so we can try to sort things out informally.
15. General
- Read-down and severability: each part of these terms applies only to the extent the law allows. If any part would be invalid, unenforceable or in breach of a law (including a consumer law) in your country, it is read down to the extent needed to make it valid. If that is not possible, it is removed for you, and the rest of these terms still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to a business that takes over SparkSheet (for example, a company we set up to run it). If we do, your rights will not be reduced, and we will tell you in the app.
- These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about SparkSheet.
